Local Marzouga news, Morocco
This is the highest and most famous dune in North Africa. A very worthy place to explore the desert. But it is acquaintances, not "immersion", because boundless open spaces are not here. The entire dune is not more than 8 km across. But still interesting. A visit to the dunes is very well organized. You sit on the camels on one side, and spend the night on the other in tents, but in fairly comfortable conditions with a good dinner and a clean toilet. In the morning you meet the dawn in the sand and back. It is disappointing that all the sand is plowed by jeeps and finding a pristine area for a good photo is very problematic. You need to wake up very early and with a flashlight go far away from people.
Desert in Morocco - a place you must see !! This is an adventure that you do not forget for life. Camel stays in the desert, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as well as the opportunity to spend the night in the desert with countless brilliant stars in the sky.
Wonderful place! The desert is beautiful, the views are amazing! We stayed not in the Merzoug itself, but in a small oasis nearby. The oasis itself is very interesting. It seems to me there is no need to take an additional tour. We independently went to the flamingo lake, the flamingos were there. We climbed the dune to sunset and sunrise, walked around the oasis. I recommend going out into the desert in the morning and in the evening, in the afternoon a lot of ATVs ride and crush the impression.
Latest news Marzouga - here are the news of nearby cities
For fans of cinema and not only
A small walled city of clay and straw in the desert. A cult place for fans of the Game of Thrones and other famous films. At every step, in every institution there is a leaflet with a list of films that were shot here.
Everyone else here will also be interested in the fortress itself and on the top of the hill, at the foot of which it is located. The mountain offers incredible views of the oasis in the riverbed on one side and the alien valley on the other.
From the top of a neighboring hill you get great photos of the fortress itself.
The city is quite small. Contrary to the information from the guides, getting to the top of the hill will not be difficult, only if you are not hung up in the shopping excitement and completely lose orientation in space. However, at the top you will find only an old barn for storing grain and a good panorama of the city, valley and mountains. On the way upstairs, barkers-merchants will prevail (you can look at the goods if souvenirs of this kind are interesting). It is worth noting that the city became the backdrop for some Hollywood blockbusters (for which either one of the walls was built or reconstructed), which can also be an additional incentive for inspection. The museum is rather modest; in the interiors are attributes of everyday life of the local population; good views from the upper floors.

If you want to see complete exoticism and a parallel world, visit this place. 1000 crooked streets, over 1000 years old, a very colorful audience of all colors and robes, no signs of civilization - a real living creature. Admire the wooden and plaster tiles in Medressa. Visit the places where you color and wash your skin for $ 10 a day, feel this smell and every time someone complains that he has a boring and low-paying job - remember the work of tanners. Listen to those rhythmic African motifs. Try freshly squeezed juice of white pomegranates (only in a disposable glass) and peeled cactus fruits and I guarantee that you will remember this place for life
Medina of Fes
The largest in area and colorful medina. Here you will see the life of the city of the 14th and 9th centuries, the feeling that it has not changed since then. The medina of Fes is a revived museum of the 14th and 9th centuries. The dyeing districts - such you will not see anywhere! Weaver areas - you can order any item. The people in Fes are beautiful, mostly Berbers. They walked on their own everywhere. The most vivid impression of Morocco was received in this place.
Fez is a huge ancient city-market of artisans, which continues to live its own life. In addition to tourist facilities, people in different areas really live here, they have their own schools, hammams, bakeries and mosques. The city really consists of thousands of streets, streets and alleys, it seems to me that poking around here yourself, without a guide, is dangerous in the sense that you can calmly get lost and spend hours wandering around these mazes.
Here, a little more intrusive sellers than in other Moroccan medins and markets. This is especially true of purse merchants who literally divided the old city into separate zones and pursue groups in their area, keeping up and trying to suck in their goods. Although Fez is considered the most criminal city in Morocco, we did not feel this, on the contrary, one tourist from our group lagged behind us and the local people immediately told him how to find us. We did not go to a souvenir shop, a carpet shop (there was the most intrusive seller), then to a tannery - it must be visited.
This is a production where leather is made according to medieval technologies in a huge courtyard, where there is an unbearable smell and in terrible working conditions tanners process leather. There is a terrible stench and they all give out bunches of fragrant grass so that you can smell it and drown the stench. Alas, working in terrible conditions to make leather, then absolutely artisanal and low-grade products are sewn from this leather, which are sold here, but did not cause us any interest. Go to the medina of Fez is a must.

Walking in Marrakech
Quiet and calm area in Marrakech, nice to walk along the streets of the city. Beauty is everywhere, at the same time a quiet and noisy city.
Musee de la Palmeraie
This is a small museum containing a private collection of modern art - about 100 works built in the last century. It is interesting. The gardens at the back of the museum are really beautiful, especially the fascinating jardin sec. Worth to visit. A taxi from the center of Marrakech will cost about 100 dh each way, and it’s wise to make the driver wait for you, because it will not be easy to pick up a taxi here.
